Admissions

Pace Brantley School serves students whose priority needs stems from academic difficulties.  Our focus is to work with students having diagnosed learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, central auditory processing disorder and attention deficit disorder.  Students whose primary need is of a behavioral or emotional nature are not appropriate for our program.

The admissions procedure begins with a pre-screening telephone interview by the admissions coordinator.  When the criteria for an appointment has been established an interview will be scheduled with the Admissions Director.  Students must have documented learning disabilities (psychological evaluation) with average to above average intelligence.

PBS uses a rolling enrollment process.  Once classes are full (10-1 ratio) the remaining applicants will be placed on a waiting list.

The application for the admissions procedure requires that forms be completed and returned by the parents/guardian, physicians and psychologists.

The admissions process includes testing to be used for placement purposes.  This evaluation is conducted as a means to informally interview the applicant, assess academic achievements and analyze strengths and weaknesses in the learning process.

A personal interview with a parent/guardian before admission is conducted to determine if the child's  educational, emotional and behavioral needs can be met by the School.  Once it is determined that PBS is appropriate, pre-admission testing and a visit day are scheduled.  With this information complete and availability of an appropriate opening, the Eligibility Committees decision for placement can proceed.

General Requirements

Pace Brantley School requires a copy of the student's birth certificate, the appropriate tuition and fees, proof of immunization (HRS Blue 680 form) and gold physical form before a student is admitted.  The school has a dress code requiring school uniforms.  A sign and notorized "Medical Authorization for Treatment" form must be returned to school in order to allow students to be treated in the event of a medical emergency.
