Student Life

Sports

Exercise is a critical component of a well rounded program, and students are encouraged to participate in daily Physical Education. In addition, the school sponsors several "Field Days" during the year, with the entire day devoted to athletic activities and outdoor play.

High School Physical Education content includes exposure to volleyball, basketball, hockey, flag football, softball, soccer and other sports as available. Skills, rules, strategies, safe practice and good sportsmanship are all emphasized.

High school students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average during a semester in order to be allowed to participate in organized sports the following semester. Additional eligibility information may be obtained from the Athletic Director.

Varsity

Pace Brantley School offers varsity and junior varsity basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball and hockey. The Pace Brantley School Pirates compete with other independent schools in the area.

Intramural

The intramural program includes a variety of sports. After school hours the students participate in flag football, field hockey, softball and cannonball.

Intramural Sports includes six sessions, which run throughout the school year.  Activities are:  Flag Football, Soccer, Hockey, Softball, Cannonball and Kickball.  This program is offered to all Pace Brantley School students throughout the school year.  The program consists of a Varsity level for older more experienced players and a Jr. Varsity for younger less experienced players.  Each session lasts five weeks with students participating once a week after school.  The program is designed to improve motor skills, teamwork, fair play, good sportsmanship, social interaction and positive self-esteem.  P.E. and Recreation staff provide coaching and supervision.

Interscholastic Sports

In order to provide interscholastic athletics to our Lower School and High School students, Pace Brantley School has teamed up with Avalon School and Center Academy to create our own independent league, the PAC League.  Programs at these schools are provided to a similar student population as those students who attend PBS.  The objective of this league is to provide, direct and supervise students in interscholastic athletic activities with an emphasis placed on the varying needs, interests, and abilities of our students.  Current School Teams:  Volleyball Team, Basketball Team, Flag Football Team, Soccer Team.  Teams are co-ed.
